DESCRIBE YOUR END GOAL

Our end goal is to create a short documentary about how big of an issue poverty is, how it impacts people and why we need to eradicate it.

We chose this goal because it is very important and universal. Nearly ½ the world's population - more than 3 billion people - are living in poverty (less than $2.50 a day). 1 billion children are living in poverty and 22,000 children die each day due to poverty.

FIND YOUR MOTIVATION

We were motivated by the amount of people we have seen even in Auckland with no money and no home. It angered us to see people all across the world with next to nothing.

FIND YOUR STORY

We want our film to show the effects of poverty, how governments can help get rid of poverty, and what the world will be like with no poverty. We will include clips and photos of people living in poverty, and show what the world will be like without it.

UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT - MINDMAP

POVERTY MINDMAP.png

WHAT DO WE WANT TO SAY WITH OUR FILM?

We want to bring awareness to how big of an issue poverty is and show what the world will be like without it (with pros and cons)

DESCRIBE OUR AUDIENCE

Our audience is our teachers and classmates. They all (probably) already know poverty is bad and should end, so we don’t need to convince them of that. We want to inform them of what we think they probably don’t know, of how big of an issue poverty really is on a worldwide scale and how many people it affects. We also want to show them what a world without poverty would look like, which they’ve never seen or thought about.

FOCUS IDEAS

  • What's the purpose of your project?

To show what poverty is, why it’s an issue, why we have to end it, what will happen if we end it/the pros and cons of what the world would be like with no poverty.

  • What story do you want to tell?

We want to tell an informative story about how poverty is today, how people can stop poverty and how it could be when the no poverty goal is reached.

  • Why is it important to you to communicate this?

It’s important for us to tell this story because we poverty is a very important issue that affects many people, many countries and societies, including New Zealand.

  • Who’s your audience?

Our audience is our teachers and classmates.

  • How do you want your audience to feel?

We hope to make them realize that most of these people in poverty didn’t choose to be in that life, it was handed to them. We want our audience to put themselves in their shoes. We want them to see how big of an issue poverty is and how important it is to stop it. We want them to feel sad for those living in poverty and, by showing what the world could be like, be inspired to stop it.

  • What would you like them to take away from this project?

After watching our video we want them to be inspired to learn even more about poverty, notice it more in their everyday lives, and sympathize with those living in poverty.

REFLECTION

Right now I’m feeling excited about our idea

I was really confident that they thought our idea was good.

My biggest concern is that we wont be able to show our idea in a clear way

I want to remember to follow the premise of our story and convey it in the best way possible
